An Age Group Manager is required for each junior age group on a Sunday morning and no special skills are required for this role. Like the majority of people in a Surf Life Saving Club our Age Group Manager's are volunteers, and as they are the leader's and manager's of a particular junior age group.
It is essential to complete an Age Group Manager's course which involves an on-line training assessment (approx. duration of 2 hours); covering the following areas:-
- Risk Assessment and Management
- Duty of Care
- Attendance checklist and monitoring
- Junior Surf Education Awards
This will then be followed on "on the beach" supervised practical with a particular Age Group.
An Age Group manager over the age of 18 years will be required to fulfil the Member Protection Screening Policy of SLSWA, by completing or either producing evidence of a Police Clearance or Working with Children certificate. The cost of both certifications is covered by SLSWA.
