We meet every Sunday morning from 9am and finish at 11am. Our season starts in November and finishes late March. (A break is also taken over the Christmas period). Refer to Season Calendar for specific dates.
Each age group has a manager that volunteers a large amount of their time to provide the children with life saving skills.
Each child that attends a large proportion of the season will qualify for an education certificate that relates to the age group that they participate in. These are given out at the end of the season.
Each child will be required to complete a proficiency swim that enables their age manager to test their swimming and floating skills. Children aged 5 and 6 are not required to participate in this evaluation. This evaluation is a risk management procedure and we have a duty of care to all our members. The participation skill evaluations are conducted at the Geographe Leisure Centre in Busselton, which is a safer environment for first time members to be evaluated in. We encourage all juniors to swim regularly. The more swimming a child does, the more confidence they will have in the ocean.
UNDER 6;s and 7's
Children in these age groups will participate in activities on the water’s edge only and will need a parent to attend every session. Children will take part in an education program that will also cover dangers at the beach and how to recognise a lifesaver.
UNDER 8's, 9's, 10's, 11's 12's and 13's
All activities that are conducted for these age groups are based around having fun and learning about surf awareness. Parents MUST be in attendance at the beach during all Sunday morning activities.
An education program is also part of the organised activities that are conducted during Sunday mornings. Children in these age groups will learn the basics about surf awareness, recognising dangers, recognising life savers and life guards and how to be sun smart.
We have fun activity dates with other clubs during the season that invite all juniors to participate in activities with other children in the area.
We are always looking for more parents to come on board and help out with setting up the beach activities, doing water safety and packing away when it’s all over at the end of each day. Sharing the load of work between lots of helpers make the tasks more enjoyable and it is also a great way to meet more people and have fun yourselves.
